Frequently Asked Questions
When will my subscription tickets arrive?
Subscription tickets will be mailed in the beginning of September. Now is a great time to make any changes to your subscription. All changes will be incorporated into your season tickets until August 27th (no need to exchange tickets at the theatre).
Why does your Saturday performance start at 6pm?
In the first few years of 42nd Street Moon, there were 2 performances on Saturday. The first was at 6pm. This show proved much more popular with our patron's and when the schedule changed, we kept the more popular of the two times.
How did 42nd Street Moon get its name?
During the 1920’s and 1930’s, the bright lights of Broadway were known as “the 42nd Street Moon,” honoring the theatre’s most exciting thoroughfare. In 1993, Greg MacKellan and Stephanie Rhoads formed San Francisco’s 42nd Street Moon, borrowing the vintage Broadway nickname.
Are you really the oldest Revival Theater Company in the Country?
That depends on what you mean by the oldest. We are the longest running continuous Revival Company in the country. However, there were companies before 42nd Street Moon that are, sadly, no longer producing. To our knowledge, the only other company in the world that has been producing revivals longer than we have is Ian Marshall Fisher's Lost Musical Series in London, England. We are also San Francisco's only professional musical theater company!
What do you mean by professional theater company?
We are a Bay Area Theater Agreement (BAT), Tier 2 theater company. That is the contract we use with Actors Equity, the professional union for working actors. All of our actors and crew are paid professionals. While there are many volunteer opportunities at 42nd Street Moon, the only volunteers that help at "show time" are ushers.
Where does 42nd Street Moon perform?
215 Jackson Street (between Battery and Front Streets)
San Francisco, CA
on special occasions we also perform at:
650 Geary Boulevard (at Leavenworth)
San Francisco, CA
